In 1983, Aztec Sensible Cooling was established to fill a void in the air handling market. By combining old technology with new processes, Aztec coolers produced air quality comparable to mechanically refrigerated air - without using compressors and at a fraction of the annual operating cost. Aztec has created a national market for air handlers that incorporate its highly efficient indirect (dry) evaporative cooling process which delivers cool air without adding moisture to the air stream. Acquired by Mestek in 1994, Aztec today provides ventilation in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, helps meet standards for indoor air quality, and eliminates the need for ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's). The climate in 40% of the continental U.S. allows Aztec coolers to replace mechanically refrigerated cooling. In the rest of the country, Aztec coolers can provide a cost-effective boost to mechanical refrigeration. |
